A series of unique sculptural works pairing antique flashed glass with weathered oak stumps retrieved from a Welsh hillside. The fern, the birch and the bo all have strong spiritual meanings, and these pieces celebrate life and its vibrancy and the cyclicality of nature.
The glass has been worked using an acid etched process unique to me using traditional antique glass - mouth blown in Germany and France - in order to create the patterns and textures. The oak has been sourced from a hillside in west wales where the trees were felled to make way for commercial larch and spruce. They have remained there to be weathered for the last 30 years and have a raw beauty - not being worked by anything other than the elements.
